Callahan is my home town. I have lived here 40 years.

I like being able to have positive interactions with students.
How many students have you mentored?
Four.
What have you gained from mentoring Gavin?
I got to see a really good young man mature over time and succeed in school. I have also gained a new life long friend and look forward to see him accomplish big things after school.
Gavin Sondel, West Nassau High School
Why did you want to apply for Take Stock?
I wanted to apply to Take Stock for the opportunities that it provides, mentors, financial aid, college readiness, informational seminars, and more. It is an amazing opportunity to be a part of.
What have you learned from your relationship with your mentor, Daniel?
My relationship with Officer Jones has taught me many valuable skills. He is always welcoming, kind, understanding, empathetic, and more. No matter what someone is going through, he will be there to try to help in any way he can. He taught me how to be there for my loved ones and my community.
What is your favorite memory from TSIC?
My personal favorite memory from TSIC is the events where the staff of TSIC actively come up to me and ask me about how I’m doing in school, if I need any help, and what they can do? They are fully committed to me becoming a successful student.
What are your plans after you graduate high school and TSIC?
After high school I plan to go to college and pursue a 4-year degree in pre law studies and then go to an accredited law school.
