Lawrence & Jackson

May Spotlight 2026

This month’s student-mentor spotlight is mentor Lawrence Fisher and mentee, Jackson Collins, from West Nassau High School. The two have been matched since March 2023.

Lawrence Fisher, Mentor

What do you consider to be your hometown?
Amelia Island.

What made you decide to mentor with Take Stock?
My friend Fred was on the board. I could only say no to him for so long…I finally gave in.

How many students have you mentored?
Two. Jeremiah, who went to SCAD, and now Jackson.

What have you gained from mentoring?
The ability to consider and empathize with how hard it is to be a teenager in 2026. They have lots of freedom/access to things, yet are never truly free/ unmonitored.

JACKSON COLLINS, WEST NASSAU HIGH SCHOOL

Why did you want to apply for Take Stock?
To better prepare myself for education after high school. I was excited for the scholarship and the opportunity to have a mentor to help guide me through high school and choosing what to do after graduation.

What have you learned from your relationship with your mentor?
Mr. Larry has taught me to enjoy the little things in life and never take life for granted. He’s encouraged me to find a hobby outside of work. He likes to draw and has shared many of his drawings with me. My hobby outside of work is my truck. He has been an awesome mentor.

What is your favorite memory from TSIC?
Pickleball tournaments and college tours.

What are your plans after you graduate high school and TSIC?
I plan to enroll in an electrical lineman program this fall. There are several in the state that I am considering.
