This month’s student-mentor spotlight is mentor Allison Moore and her mentee, Kuristan Desselberger, from West Nassau High School. The two have been matched since July 2020.

What do you consider to be your hometown?
I’ve lived in Callahan all of my life.
What made you decide to mentor with Take Stock?
I wanted to help the students receive their scholarship but also wanted to be there for them and prayerfully make a difference in their life.
How many students have you mentored?
Kuristan is my 2nd. Hopefully not my last!
What have you gained from mentoring Kuristan?
I believe I have gained a friend. She is just such a joy to talk to.

Why did you want to apply for Take Stock?
I applied for Take Stock because it was a very good scholarship opportunity.
What have you learned from your relationship with your mentor, Ms. Allison?
I have learned a lot of different things with having Allison as my mentor. One of the most important things is stress management.
What is your favorite memory from TSIC?
My favorite memory would be the visit at UNF.
What are your plans after you graduate high school and TSIC?
My plan after Take Stock is to go into college and become a medical assistant.
